California Southern Baptist Convention is honored to serve its churches by providing biographical information on prospective ministers to inquiring congregations. Résumé service files contain the names of ministers open to God's leadership in making staff and career changes. This, of course, is a dynamic process, that involves the spiritual disciplines of listening to God, praying, and being continually sensitive to His guidance. Involvement in this process is by invitation, and is but a small part of how God works to position His people for ministry. We accept this role fully aware of God's promises and provision to those seeking His will for ministry and life.
Scripture affirms that God is always working! This means that movement is constant within the Baptist family. CSBC receives hundreds of requests from churches seeking biographical data on individuals willing to accept new ministry challenges. God uses CSBC as an information referral ministry. This ministry is not an endorsement or recommendation of candidates or churches. We attempt to link congregations and potential candidates by matching certain basic criteria regarding education, experience and other pertinent ministry data.
CSBC's personal and professional knowledge of the candidates is often limited. Diligence should always mark the pastor or church staff search process. In every instance references should be secured and be verified along with other background information, including track record, finances and criminal background check. The fact that CSBC has served its referral mission does not represent an endorsement of a particular individual or reference about competency to minister. Names and situations are shared in good faith with the prayer that God will use these efforts to introduce churches to people eager to serve.
Selecting a church minister, whether a pastor or staff member, is a Kingdom task! That is why we must covenant in prayer to seek His guidance in these matters. Whether a church is seeking to fill a staff vacancy, or a minister is seeking a new place of service, join CSBC in praying that God will use this process to serve churches in Kingdom growth.
